This book is an amazing resource for anyone teaching water concepts in the classroom. The demonstrations and activities provided in the book allow an instructor to integrate active hands on learning into the classrooms. I have been using the book since it came out and have observed that my students grasp concepts much more quickly by incorporating the demos from the book. This book is a must for everyone teaching water related subjects!!!!!

In this collection of 14 essays, Trinh, a writer, feminist, and filmmaker, explores unconventional documentary filmmaking and literary techniques. Typically, documentary styles have kept a distance between subject and viewer, creating a sense of mastery in the viewer. By stressing form rather than content, boundaries of the acceptable in artform are transgressed, resulting in a nonlinear movement that leads the viewer into a profound experience that does not have to make sense. In this well-documented book, Trinh explores semiotic ideas of Michel Foucault and Roland Barthes, along with the works of Zora Neale Hurston and Helene Cixous, among others. Illustrated with footage from her films, the form of Trinh's book plays a major role in the presentation of its content. A wonderful volume, this is recommended for academic libraries, especially those that support programs in film and women's studies.

comprehensive and clear

This book is highly-recommended for upper-level undergraduate/first-year graduate students in economics. It seems that the authors know well the mathematical requirements needed for students majoring in economics. The writing is clear and the proofs are rigorously explained. Even the answers to selected problems are explained thoroughly. The problems are quite easy though, but I think it is a very good way of building confidence for students who are not so mathematically-inclined. For students who find Chiang's textbook outdated and Simon/Blume's textbook somewhat incomplete, this is a much better alternative.

I bought this book to review some maths and get ready for a master in economics. It was very useful. The topics are explained in a very accessible way.
There are a lot of examples and solved exercises that tourned to be useful for an advanced course in Microeconomics and/or Macroeconomics.
I think this book is a "must" for who knows some basic in mathematics and want to learn more.

Somehow nice but confusing ordering of topics.

I am currently teaching using that textbook. I am economist trained in mathematics. The book has plenty of illustrations and exercises, but the authors didn't think carefully about the transitions between chapters : Who in his own mind would introduce differentiation before introducing limits? So we're working on derivatives, then limits, then continuity. The logic is upside down. Also equations for circles and ellipsoids pop up in the middle of the analysis of functions, without explanation. So plenty of exercises, nice text, but students will definitely be picking pieces across the book to try to make sense of this.

Exceptional Book on How to Watercolor

This is an exceptional book of graded lessons on how to watercolor. It is completely different from any other "how to" book on watercolors that I've seen, (which to me are mostly "show off" books). Crespo is genuinely dedicated to teaching students - while teaching technical skills, there is a wonderful sense of humanity, love for teaching, and awe of the mysterious essence of nature which shines through. Instead of having illustrations which show only master watercolors, (as many books do - a good way to discourage the beginning watercolorist right off the bat), most of the examples Crespo gives are of his own students' work, and only a few of his own. He points out what is wonderful about the students' work, (which is such a refreshing change from critiquing student work and pointing out in graphic and gorey detail what is wrong with it!) The lessons are carefully graded, building on what has already been learned. The assignments are stimulating and fun, with just enough challenge to not feel overwhelming.
I can't say enough good things about this book. As in all the best teaching, what shines forth in Crespo's is not only his knowledge of technique, but his love for the medium, his students, and life.

Learn Watercolor At Your Own Pace!

This book is great for beginners and for people who want to learn new techniques in watercolor. The author has excellent examples through out the book from students as well as skilled artists. He gives good advice and if you are new at watercolor and want to learn at your own pace without anyone rushing you this book is great.

An excellent course of study for the dedicated student.

This book will well serve both beginning students with a serious desire to master watercolor, and experienced artists who want to revitalize their painting. The book is arranged in a series of exercises that are fun, thought-provoking, and not at all difficult, even for complete beginners. The text for each lesson is well-written. Crespo compresses a lot of useful art theory into brief but very usable form. Although the author uses some of his own paintings as demonstrations,the majority of the illustrations show student work. The pictures are beautiful in their own right. They also offer great encouragement to beginners who may be intimidated by seeing too much technically perfect work in conventional art instruction books.
I have been working with watercolor for nearly thirty years, but I still learned something new from every page of this book!
